VICINITY project at “MyData 2018”

Wednesday, August 29, 2018 (All day) to Friday, August 31, 2018 (All day)
Helsinki, Finland

The MyData organisation focuses on the use of personal data.  MyData 2018 was their 3rd annual conference.

Natalie Samovich (ENERC) participated to make a presentation on “Data for new distributed energy services” in the “Energy Data Sharing” session. This positioned evolving P2P models within a decentralising energy paradigm. Use centric approach, flexibility of demand and interfaces with main energy sector players were among the concepts presented in a 15 min presentation and panel Q&A discussion.

Keith Dickerson (CAL) participated to make a presentation on “Requirements for Cross-domain Use Cases for IoT-enabled Smart Cities” in the “Data and Digital Identity in the Cities” session. This focussed on the personal data that is required to implement smart city solutions and whether this is adequately protected.

Keith also organised an impromptu (open space) session on ”The Role of Personal Data in Energy Market Deregulation and Democratisation”. Natalie Samovich also participated in this session.

ENERC and CAL proposed collaboration with the VICINITY project and contributed to the development of the Business Plan of the organisation as well as to the formation of the MYDATA foundation.
