D8.3 Pilot results of Buildings for Assisted Living Neighbourhood Use-Case

This document focuses on the evaluation of Oslo Pilot Site. The Pilot Site consists of two Use Cases – 1a.1 Predictive Operations and 1a.2 Resource Management. The first use case is about tracking room usage in order to provide cleaning staff with a tool to perform cleaning more efficiently by reducing the amount of unnecessary room checks they need to perform. The second use case is about managing and tracking resource consumption such as power and water by reading data from meters and trying to smooth out any spikes in power consumption by controlling high usage appliances. During the development the second use case had to be discontinued because of adaptation of a commercial solution by the office building.

The deliverable gives a brief description of each use case and further focuses on the evaluation process and analysis performed in order to achieve the deliverable’s goals. The document covers 3 main areas that were evaluated – functional evaluation, technical evaluation and business evaluation. Each part describes the definition of evaluation parameters, gathering of evidence and analysis of gathered data. The focus of this evaluation is to examine if the pilot site manages to meet the KPI criteria and satisfy stakeholder’s needs. Deliverable also covers Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how this pilot site implements them.

Using an agile approach to the development process has helped to ensure that we get valuable feedback from stakeholders at an early stage. This feedback has helped to make use cases more useful and thus meet projects goals. Getting feedback early has also ensured the calculation of the performance indices of the pilot, as well as the overall evaluation process performed for this deliverable, according to the timeline.

The evaluation of this as well as the other three pilot sites, regarding the security and privacy requirements, especially in the context of GDPR, will be further discussed and presented in D6.4 “VICINITY security and privacy evaluation report” (M48).
